High Level Job Descriptions


President

  • Responsible for the overall operations and supervision of all activities associated with RAB. They shall exercise authority through the elected and appointed members of the Board as provided for in the Constitution.
  • Oversee all activities of the Board, and ensure adherence with RAB constitution and governing  requirements of LORL, GLRL, Ringette Ontario and Ringette Canada.
  • Appoint all committees as may be necessary.
  • Develop and maintain various RAB committee mandates (e.g. Disciplinary Committee, Team  Formation Committee, etc…).
  • Sit as an ex-officio member of all RAB committees, except as provided for elsewhere in the  Governing documents of the RAB.
  • Act as the official spokesperson for the RAB.
  • Suspend, in cases demanding immediate action, any Coach, Manager, Player, Trainer, Referee  until dealt with by the Disciplinary Committee.
  • Dispense, upon the recommendation of the Discipline and Appeals Committee, discipline in  accordance with the RAB and governing bodies’ Code of Conduct.
  • Receive from any RAB member any formally submitted recommendations for amendments to the Bylaws.
  • Represent RAB for all dealings with GLRL (Provincial level league).
  • Perform other duties as determined from time to time or as required by the RAB Board.
  • Not vote except in the case of a tie. He/she shall cast the deciding vote. 

Vice President 

  • Perform the duties of the President when the President is not available.
  • Represent RAB for all dealings with LORL (Regional level league).
  • Facilitate conversations between teams and parents as necessary.
  • Facilitate and assist in the activities of the Disciplinary committee.
  • Recruit new committee members.
  • Past ringette experience preferred but not required

Treasurer and Bookkeeper

  • Maintain proper accounting records for the association within Quickbooks.
  • Signing Officer and management of existing bank accounts.
  • Manage all deposits in the association's bank account(s).
  • Manage the disbursement of funds of the association.
  • Prepare annual budgets and track spending to plan.
  • Quarterly Lottery License reporting with City

Director of Development

  • Act as primary point of contact between the executive committee and all team coaches and bench staff.
  • Facilitate the coach selection and assignment process at the start of each season.
  • Provide guidance to new coaches on responsibilities and expectations of the position.
  • Monitor Bench Staff qualifications and requirements.
  • Investigate and adjudicate any concerns raised about bench staff.
  • Promote ongoing training programs for coaches via available Ringette Ontario programs.
  • Establishing programs and events to promote the  development of RAB players across all divisions.
  • Develop an annual plan and budget for player development activities for executive review and  approval each September.
  • Coordinate and manage the execution of all player development events such as power skating  and Ringette skills development programs.
  • Develop a program specific for players to try Goal tending to promote increase in RAB goalies and  advancement of all goalies’ skills.
  • Act as a member of the Convenors committee and Disciplinary Review Panel.
  • Work as Arena Convenor at the Annual Blast Tournament.

Referee in Chief and referee scheduling assistant

  • Required to be a qualified ringette referee.
  • Manage referee scheduling and payment.
  • Recruit active players into ringette referee program.
  • Lead disciplinary committee

Director of Convenors (TEAM REP LIAISON)

  • Lead the RAB Convenors Committee and make recommendations to the Executive on team formation and player assignments.
  • Make recommendations to the Executive on the number of teams in each division, divisional tiering  and player assignment.
  • Arrange tryout/evaluation sessions for the appropriate players/divisions as determined by the  Conveners Committee.
  • Determine the evaluation system to be used. Coaches are encouraged to participate as on-ice coaches during the player evaluations for their particular division, but will not be permitted to act  as evaluators in that division. Coaches can be asked to participate as evaluators in other divisions as long as they have no family conflict.
  • Capture feedback from coaches, evaluators, players/parents and RAB executives on team  formation, and neighbouring associations with respect to divisional tiering and team formation.
  • Work as Arena Convenor at the Annual Blast Tournament.  

FUN Task Force Chair

  • Form FUN Task Force (a group or parent volunteers wanting to help with various events during the season).
  • Attend monthly executive meetings and report any FUN related news.
  • Weekly communication to FUN parents.
  • Organize Fundraising.
  • Help organize the following events (Photo Night, FUN Hoodies, FUN Fest, Burlington Tournament, Year End Party, Come Try Ringette)

Ice Scheduler

  • Manage all use of city ice rentals and room rentals for RAB.
  • Create a schedule of ice times for RAB teams which covers practices, games and player development.
  • Act as primary point of contact between RAB and the City of Burlington.
  • Work with RAB teams and the Referee in Chief to schedule and reschedule games when necessary

Equipment Manager

  • Coordinate and track the distribution of RAB jerseys.
  • Coordinate and track the distribution of RAB Goalie Equipment.
  • Purchase new equipment as needed.
  • Coordinate the equipment loan program for the FUN (Could be a separate role).
  • Manage the storage locker at Appleby

Marketing and Sponsorship Coordinator

  • Work with the social media and communications lead to promote RAB.
  • Identify and execute on opportunities to raise awareness of RAB and ringette.
  • Focus on increasing membership in RAB.
  • Evaluate new sources of advertising and marketing tactics to boost recruitment.
  • Create and maintain RAB sponsorship guidelines.
  • Maintain RAB branding and branding guide

Registrar

  • Manage all incoming registrations at the beginning of the season.
  • Manage Registrar inbox - related questions.
  • Work closely with WebAdmin to organize teams and distribution lists.
  • Manage info@burlingtonringette.com

Tournament Chair and Committee

  • Lead the planning, implementation and closing activities of the tournament, in accordance with Ringette Ontario Sanctioned Events rules.
  • Recruit volunteers and form a tournament committee.
  • Develop a project plan and event budget for the tournament that will deliver on the Association annual budget.

Media Liaison (Social Media)

  • Promote RAB and the sport of Ringette in the media and social media channels.
  • Manage and monitor RAB’s activities on Facebook and Instagram pages. 

Communications

  • Support RAB Committee in weekly communication emails to keep membership informed and engaged.
  • Work with other Associations’ media liaisons to coordinate online efforts to connect

Technology Manager

  • Manage RAB website to ensure adequate access controls, content  management and integration with other systems.
  • Perform website content updates at the start of the season and throughout the season as needed.
  • Manage all RAB owned devices including user administration, device security settings, user training, end user support and physical safekeeping.
  • Management of RAB document management systems including access control.
  • Management of all RAB email accounts used by committee members and special user accounts as well as creation and maintenance of email distribution lists used for day to day operations of the committee and teams.
  • Support the rollout and use of apps used by RAB as approved by the committee or provided by Ringette Ontario via their vendor agreements.
  • Be a subject matter expert in all aspects of technology used by RAB to be able to provide support to RAB committee members and its membership base.
  • Become familiar with upcoming technology deployment plans by Ringette Ontario and the leagues RAB participates in (GLRL and LORL) and facilitate their rollout in RAB.
  • Identify gaps in operations or opportunities for technology advancement by researching and recommending new technology to the committee.
  • Conduct annual review of content with RAB executives to ensure content is up to date and accurate.
  • Create forms and reports necessary for RAB committee members to conduct their duties (e.g. enrolment, forms, etc…).
  • Evaluate web platform supplier costs and features on a periodic basis to ensure optimal benefit  for RAB.
